Market Data Fees, Professional Status & Level 2 Access – FAQ

What’s the difference between Non-Professional and Professional status? #

When signing the Rithmic Market Data Agreement, you must choose to classify yourself as either a Non-Professional or a Professional user.

  1. Non-Professional:
    Note: Non-Professional L1 (top-of-book) data fee is included with your PropShopTrader purchase.
    You qualify as a Non-Professional if:
    • You are trading for personal use
    • You do not hold a financial license (e.g., Series 7, Series 56)
    • You are not employed by a financial institution, hedge fund, or brokerage
    • You are not using market data for business or institutional purposes
  2. Professional:
    Professional data access requires a fee of $150/month per exchange. This fee is charged per calendar month, is non-prorated, and is non-refundable once selected.
    You are considered a Professional if:
    • You hold a valid financial license
    • You are employed by a financial or trading firm
    • You use market data on behalf of a company, business, or institution

Will PropShopTrader or Rithmic assign my status? #

No. You must select your status yourself when signing the Rithmic agreement. PropShopTrader and Rithmic do not auto-assign Professional or Non-Professional status.

However, if you have registered as a Professional with Rithmic at another firm but choose Non-Professional here, Rithmic may contact you to resolve a potential misclassification.

Tip: Only select “Professional” if you meet the official criteria. When in doubt, contact Rithmic support before submitting.


What happens if I select “Professional” during Rithmic setup? #

If you declare yourself a Professional, or Rithmic flags you as such based on the info you submitted:

  • You are required to pay the $150/month fee to maintain access to your trading account and market data feed.
  • Your account will be put on hold — no new purchases or trading activity will be allowed until the fee is paid.
  • If payment is not completed within 5 days, your Rithmic account will be closed, and you will forfeit any funds paid for your Warrior or Gladiator account as per policies.
  • If payment is made on time, your account will remain active without disruption.

If you believe this classification is incorrect, please contact Rithmic Support directly to request a correction.


How do I subscribe to Level 2 (L2) Market Depth data? #

Some trading platforms — such as Bookmap, Tickblaze, and other platforms — require Level 2 (L2) market depth data to access features like the DOM (Depth of Market) window and order book analytics.

You can subscribe to L2 data at any time from our shop page:

  • For Non-Professional users: L2 data is optional and can be purchased if you require access to the DOM or advanced order flow tools.
  • For Professional users: L2 data is mandatory. Professional users cannot access or trade on their accounts without an active L2 data subscription, as per Rithmic and exchange requirements.

Note: All L2 subscriptions are valid for one calendar month and must be repurchased monthly for continued access.

Important Notes #

  • If you just purchased a new account and selected your Pro/Non-Pro status on Rithmic, your classification will not reflect instantly on our system for purchasing add-ons.
  • Our system updates your status after the End-of-Day (EOD) reports are synced (between 5PM – 8PM EST).
  • Once synced, you will see the available Level 2 add-on options on our site based on your classification.
  • You’ll only be able to purchase the appropriate add-on after the EOD data is received and your profile is refreshed in our system.
